I am a writer and filmmaker that likes to tell stories and who makes short films, feature films, docs, installations, commercials, music videos, tv-formats and apple pies. My Uncle Bill is my biggest fan and has collected lots of items to sell, old and new interviews and specials.

1964: born in Utrecht – The Netherlands 1974: changes his name from Jan Jasper into Johan, because he likes Johan Neeskens so much. 1975: steals 8mm camera from his father 1983: studies law for 4 months 1984: on placement at a small advertising agency in Haarlem – The Netherlands 1985: junior-copywriter at FHV/BBDO 1986: marketing-study Nima A - B. 1990: directs first commercial 1991: senior-copywriter at PMSvW/Y&R 1993: co-creative director Chiat/Day London 1994: creative director GGT London 1995: starts own communications-agency KesselsKramer (Campaigns for Ben, Diesel, Oxfam, I Amsterdam, directs in 9 years KK more than 500 commercials, some music videos and 3 short films, wins 23 Dutch Advertising awards, 9 Effectivity Awards, 83 foreign advertising awards, agency of the year, advertising man of the year, publishes 6 books,  different exhibitions on own work in Kunsthal, Tate Gallery, numerous (inter) national publications and 5 different teaching programs). 2001: directs music video for Tom Waits, ‘What’s he building in there?’ 2002: initiatior and director of ‘The Other Final’, a documentary about the game between the two lowest ranked football teams in the world: Bhutan-Montserrat, playing on more than 50 different film festivals, 66 tv-stations and 8 times awarded, for example in New York, Avignon and Barcelona. 2003: directs ‘The day Bob was saved by modern technology’, a short film for the BBC. 2003: directs ‘De laatste dag’, a 25-minute documentary. 2004: directs ‘11:59’, a short film of 10 minutes, to be seen in Dutch cinema. 2005: leaves his own agency KesselsKramer to go directing full-time. 2005: shoots a worldwide football commercial with Chelsea for Coca-Cola in Buenos Aires. 2005: directs ‘Das Wunder von Mühlenbeck’, a documentary about a scandal in German amateur-football, with a premiere in Berlin and Amsterdam. 2006: directs ‘Toni Togo’, a tv-campaign for MTV Europe about a mad, young German football fan from Das Ruhrgebiet who fell in love with Togo, one of the unknown football countries playing at the World Cup in Germany 2006. 2006: directs ‘0,08’, a short film about a young boy from Barcelona who’s crazy about football, Henrik Larsson and FC Barcelona. The film, made with help of FC Barcelona,  played on Resfest and 23 other film-festivals. 2006: directs and photographs artwork and music videos for Dutch music band Johan 2007: directs a worldwide advertising campaign for adidas with football stars as Kaka, van Persie, Messi, Xavi Alonso – ‘Dream Big’ 2007: directs his first feature film: a non-profit film project ‘SING FOR DARFUR’ that shows the indifference of the Western world in this human tragedy. Shot in Barcelona. 2008: Worldwide premiere of Sing for Darfur at the Tokyo International Film Festival Preparing a second feature film, called ‘Johan 1’, to be shot May 2009. 2009: january: Artist of the month at CCCB Barcelona, with an exhibition ‘44’   Johan is married, has two daughters and is an Ajax and FC Barcelona-supporter.
